Rise began their journey with Investors in the Environment in 2022 achieving a bronze award, followed by silver in 2023, and are now honoured to announce they have achieved a green award, the highest level of accreditation from iiE.
Rise believes in the transformative power of physical activity not just for individuals, but for the planet. As part of their 10-year strategy, they have made it a priority to do their bit to tackle climate change through their work, and are committed to making a difference by integrating environmentally sustainable practices into everything that they do.
As an organisation they have set targets to reduce their emissions by 50% by 2030. Initiatives highlighted in its iiE audit to achieve this include a focus on sustainable travel, and active participation in national campaigns such as World Environment Day and Plastic Free July.
One standout initiative was the organisation’s cycling challenge during August 2024. Coinciding with the Paris Olympics, Rise staff collectively aimed to cycle 584 miles, representing the distance from their North Shields based office to the Olympic Velodrome in Paris. The challenge promoted active travel, a key component of Rise’s sustainability plan, while fostering team engagement and reducing their carbon footprint.
Clare Morley, CEO of Rise, said: “We’re thrilled to have achieved the highest level of accreditation with iiE.”
Tackling the climate crisis is one of our core priorities, and we believe physical activity can have a transformative impact not just for individuals but for the planet. Active travel and reducing carbon-intensive behaviours are integral to our mission of creating healthier, more sustainable communities.”
This accomplishment showcases Rise’s commitment to making a tangible difference through sustainability and health, setting an example for organisations across the region.
