The Coach Core Awards bring together apprentices, graduated apprentices, their employers and learning coaches, as well as supporters and other partners, to celebrate and highlight their successes.
Rise partners with Coach Core to deliver an inclusive and impactful apprenticeship programme, which helps develop the talents of young people while tackling health inequalities and physical inactivity in local communities. The nominees are:
Michael Pentland
Michael is up for Apprentice of the Year: Community Sports & Health Officer. He is a Falcons Community Development Officer Apprentice. This award celebrates a Coach Core apprentice who has surpassed expectations on their Level 3 programme.
“Michael has overcome some huge challenges in his early life and has done extremely well to get to where he is now. This is a testament to his perseverance and application, wanting to strive for the best version of himself even when he isn’t at full confidence.”
Lewis Ritchie
Lewis is up for Graduate of the Year. Lewis is a graduated Coach Core apprentice who is nominated for going on to achieve remarkable things since his programme at Hat-Trick finished. “Lewis leads by example and sets high standards for both himself and for those he works with. Feedback from those who attend his sessions are that he’s one of the strongest deliverers and he really cares about the experience of the participants he’s looking after.”
Richy Duggan
Richy is up for Mentor of the Year. Richie is part of Sunderland Community Action Group (Northumberland, Tyne & Wear). This award celebrates an individual in an organisation that employs a Coach Core apprentice who has surpassed expectations in supporting their apprentices.
Wasim Collins, learning coach at Coach Core said: “Richy always looks for those young people who need the opportunity more than most and has supported several apprentices just waiting for a chance in life on the path to a more successful and fulfilling life through the apprenticeship partnership with Coach Core.”
Jack Liddle, empowering people manager at Rise, adds: “As the facilitator of the Coach Core programme for Northumberland and Tyne & Wear, we are delighted to be cheering on three North East nominees. To have finalists in the Apprentice of the Year, Mentor of the Year and Graduate of the Year categories highlights how much dedication both the apprentices and their employers and mentors put into the programme.”
The ceremony will take place at The Oval – Surrey County Cricket Club’s ground – on February 7th.
